Earning the Bobcat Rank

When a boy joins Cub Scouting they have to earn the Bobcat Rank before earning any other ranks.  Below are the requirements to earn this rank.

Cub Scout Promise

I promise to do my best

To do my duty to God and

my country,

To help other people, and

To obey the law of the Pack.

Law of the Pack

The Cub Scout follows Akela.

The Cub Scout helps the pack go.

The pack helps the Cub Scout grow.

The Cub Scout gives goodwill.

Tell what Webelos means

Webelos has a special meaning that Cub Scouts know.

It is We'll Be Loyal Scouts.

Show the Cub scout sign and tell what is means.

To make the sign use your right hand and hold your arm straight up.

The two fingers stand for two parts of the promise "to help other people" and "to obey."  Give the sign when you say the Cub Scout Promise or the Law of the Pack.

Cub Scout Handshake

Hold out your right hand just as you would do to shake hands.  Put your first two fingers along the inside of the other boys wrist.

This means that you help and that you obey the Law of the Pack.

Cub Scout Motto

DO YOUR BEST!!

Cub Scout Salute

Use your right hand. Hold your fingers like you do for the Cub Scout sign.  Keep the two straight fingers close together.  Touch the tips of those fingers to your cap.  If you are not wearing a cap, touch your right eyebrow.
